Deer Hunt
With such good luck in 04, I had to go back to Arkansas
looking for another trophy buck. On the day after
thanksgiving I got to the blind just before dawn. Just after
sunup clouds rolled in and left us in a dreary overcast sky.
I switched to my yellow tinted Bulls Eye Optix to increase
brightness. Just after 7:00 am I saw this big boy. He
stepped out of thick timber into a power line clearing
following a doe. I knew that time was of the essence because
the clearing was only 20 yards wide. Although the sky was
overcast and the deer was 200+ yards away my vision was
clear enough to accurately place a kill shot. He weighed in
at 200 pounds with a 17 ½ center spread and G2s that were 14
inches. I sure hope they let me come back to Arkansas next
year.
